Template Policies

Design & development of compliance reports & policies

There are certain key policies and procedures that are required as a condition of membership of the ABPI:

  • Certification of promotional (and non-promotional) material
  • Certification of representative's training and briefing material
  • Approval and payment of representative's expenses
  • Meetings & Hospitality arrangements and expenses
  • Representative's Training
  • Non-interventional Studies of Marketed medicines
  • Provision of medicines and samples
  • The use of consultants
  • Medical and Educational Goods and Services (including promotional aids and donations)
  • Relations with public and the media
  • Relationships with Patient Organisations
  • The Internet
  • Breaches of the Code and withdrawal of in-breach material
  • Co-promotion (where applicable)
In addition, there are a number of areas where experience strongly suggests that written guidance can help avoid compliance breaches and save companies valuable time in the development of material. We can also support you in developing your own policies, either starting from scratch or using one of our templates as the base document.

Each policy is carefully constructed to provide all the basic requirements needed by every company. each policy includes the basic requirements of the 1008 ABPI Code of Practice plus learning from relevant cases published by the PMCPA. Every policy includes our recommended inclusions plus comprehensive notes for the company compliance officer to help you decide what adaptations would be right for your circumstances.

However, it would be wrong to assume that our templates only reflect the requirements of the Code. We know that companies have to comply with a wide range of legislation and where appropriate we incorporate guidance from a wider compliance perspective - for example, the US Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act.
